RTI and dyslexia

The article about RTI and the Hudson article about dyslexia are similar in some concepts. Mesmer and Mesmer were explaining what RTI is, and it is a scientific process. Hudson was talking about the science behind dyslexia--what brain imaging tells us about dyslexia. In the Hudson article, there was a section about what teachers should do for dyslexic students, and all of their recommendations were similar to the process of RTI: continuous assessment, targeted intervention, and constant monitoring of progress and individualized instruction. Hudson emphasized that dyslexia is the broad term for reading disability--it is not a specific problem in the brain, it is different for almost every sufferer of dyslexia. RTI is about trying to meet individual students' needs, and Hudson proposes a similar idea. The tone of the two articles was different, though--Mesmer and Mesmer was easier to read than was Hudson--Hudson was not written esoterically, but the concepts they were trying to explain are difficult to grasp for most people.
